CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz officially announces free solar panels for 100,000 Punjab residents. This initiative is launched with the aim of providing relief from rising electricity bills.
Consumers will be able to apply via SMS or an online portal.
Maryam Nawaz said during speech: “The free solar panel scheme aims to provide permanent relief to the public from high electricity costs.
Free solar panel scheme will provide a 550-watt solar system to consumers using up to 100 units per month, while those consuming up to 200 units will receive a 1,100-watt system. CM added that 73M consumers in Punjab have benefited from a Rs 14 per unit electricity subsidy.
According to the budget government has launched the Chief Minister’s Roshan Gharana Programme at a cost of Rs9.5 billion.
Verification of the applicants will be done using the bill reference number and computerised national identity card (CNIC) number mentioned on the monthly bill of the consumers.
Advantages of the scheme
- The 52,019 consumers using 100 units per month will receive a 550-watt solar system.
- While users consuming up to 200 units will be provided with a 1,100-watt solar system.
- Consumers can register for the scheme from today via sending an SMS to 8800. The applicants will be verified through the reference number listed on the monthly bill of consumers and their CNIC number.
How to Apply online for the free solar panels:
- Visit the official portal at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk.
- Click on the Register button and fill out the form.
- Verify your email address using the link sent to your inbox.
- Log in, enter your bill reference number, and confirm your details.
- Accept the terms and submit your application.
Deadline for Registration
All applicants should complete their registration by 5th January 2025.
