Lahore: YouTuber / TikToker Rajab Butt was arrested by Punjab police in collaboration with the Wildlife Department for displaying firearms and illegally keeping a lion cub at his residence.
During the inquiry, Rajab Butt claimed that he had been gifted the lion cub during his wedding ceremony by his best friend, rejecting the allegation of committing any wildlife rules and regulations.
The arrest followed a raid at Rajab Butt’s house in the Chuhng area, where authorities acted on reports about the illegal possession of wildlife and the public display of weapons.
Under Punjab Wildlife Department, keeping a lion cub without the proper license is prohibited. Butt has been shifted to a local police station for further investigation.
The FIR, filed by SI Arsalan Ejaz under the Punjab Arms Ordinance 1965, detailed the recovery of a .223 calibre rifle and ammunition from the residence. The document also mentioned the presence of prohibited wildlife, including the lion cub, which was kept without the necessary permits and license.
